UP ITI Instructor Recruitment: Over 2,000 Posts to be Filled by the New Education Service Selection Commission

Very important and big news has emerged for the youth preparing for the UP ITI Instructor Recruitment. A major change is going to take place in the recruitment process for the vacant posts of instructors and foremen in the Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of Uttar Pradesh. Now, the responsibility of recruitment for these posts has been handed over to the newly formed UP Education Service Selection Commission instead of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).

The Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has prepared the Amended Service Rules for this, which will soon be presented for Cabinet approval. As soon as this new change is implemented, the way to fill about 2,000 vacant posts in the government ITI institutes of the state will be completely cleared. If you too are waiting for this recruitment, then in this article by Patamde Study, we are providing you with all the important information related to the recruitment process, eligibility, and new rules in detail.

Why Will the Recruitment Be Conducted by the New Commission (UP Education Service Selection Commission)?

The Uttar Pradesh government has formed the UP Education Service Selection Commission to bring uniformity and transparency to teacher recruitment at all levels in the state. Since ITI instructors are also associated with technical teaching work, the government has decided that their recruitment will now be conducted through this new commission.

Earlier, the recruitment of instructors in government ITIs was conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC). The change of commission is expected not only to speed up the recruitment process but also to improve the timeline for conducting examinations and declaring results. The Vocational Education Department is preparing to send the requisition to the new commission soon after getting the amended service rules approved by the Cabinet.

CITS Training Made Mandatory: Know the New Rules

Under the new rules of the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and the Uttar Pradesh government, major changes are being made in the UP ITI Instructor Recruitment:

  • CITS Mandatory Qualification: Under the new rules, the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) training course is being made completely mandatory for instructors. Without this, candidates will not be eligible to apply.
  • Deployment Necessary for Seat Approval: NCVT has now strictly implemented the rule that whichever trade seats are approved in an ITI, instructors and foremen must be deployed there mandatorily in accordance with the standards.
  • Strictness from Academic Session 2026-27: This rule is being strictly implemented starting from the academic session 2026-27. Due to the shortage of instructors, the approval of seats used to get stuck in many institutes, but after this recruitment, both government and private ITI institutes will get major relief.

Key Change: Earlier, candidates without CITS also got an opportunity under certain conditions, but now CITS training has been made completely mandatory in the amended service rules. Therefore, candidates dreaming of becoming an ITI instructor must have a CITS certificate.

Expected Eligibility & Experience Criteria

Although the recruitment will be conducted by the new commission, major changes in the standards of educational qualification and work experience required for technical posts are unlikely. The generally prescribed qualifications are as follows:

  1. For ITI Pass Candidates: ITI certificate in the relevant trade + mandatory CITS training + minimum 3 years of work experience.
  2. For Diploma Holders: 3-year diploma in the relevant engineering branch + mandatory CITS training + minimum 2 years of work experience.
  3. For Degree (B.Tech/BE) Holders: Engineering degree (B.Tech) in the relevant subject + mandatory CITS training + minimum 1 year of work experience.

Note: The official and detailed educational qualification can only be confirmed after the Cabinet approves the amended service rules and the official notification is released by the new commission.

Details of Vacant Posts and Impact of Recruitment

According to Uttar Pradesh's Principal Secretary (Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship) Dr. Hariom, the new service rules will be approved by the Cabinet very soon. As soon as these amended service rules are approved, the way to fill about 2,000 vacant posts of instructors and foremen in the government ITIs of the state will be completely cleared.

The biggest positive impact of this recruitment will be on the students studying in ITI institutes. Currently, due to a severe shortage of instructors, classes for many important trades cannot run smoothly, and obtaining approval for new seats from NCVT is also difficult. After the new appointments, the Skill Development campaign in the state will gain new momentum, and the youth will be able to get better technical education.

Preparation Strategy and Conclusion

If you want to participate in the UP ITI Instructor Recruitment, you should start your preparation right away. Some changes in the exam pattern and syllabus might be introduced by the new commission, but technical subjects related to your trade, General Knowledge, and computer skills will remain the main part of the exam.
