UP Teacher Recruitment: Path Cleared for 45,000 Rural and 11,508 Urban Posts

Big and important news has emerged for lakhs of D.El.Ed. and TET qualified candidates dreaming of becoming government teachers in Uttar Pradesh. Following the release of the advertisement for 11,508 teacher recruitment for urban council schools in the Basic Education Department, all eyes are now on the Supreme Court's final verdict regarding the reservation dispute in the 69,000 teacher recruitment. Immediately after this highly anticipated decision, the path for more than 45,000 rural teacher recruitments in the rural areas of the state will be completely cleared.

The department has already received the requisition for more than 45,000 vacant posts of assistant teachers in rural areas. However, keeping in mind the legal hurdles and potential changes in the seat equations following the court's decision, this requisition has not yet been sent to the Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC). If you too are preparing for the primary teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh, this report is extremely important for you. For accurate exam strategies and the latest updates, you can stay connected with Patamde Study.

69,000 Teacher Recruitment and Reservation Dispute: What is the Whole Issue?

The advertisement for the 69,000 assistant teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh was released on December 4, 2018. Ever since this recruitment process began, it has been mired in controversy. Serious allegations of discrepancies were raised, mainly regarding compliance with reservation rules in this recruitment, due to which the reservation issue on about 19,000 posts got completely stuck.

  • Main cause of dispute: Candidates from the OBC and SC categories alleged that the Basic Education Department did not properly follow the reservation rules (especially MRC, i.e., Meritorious Reserved Category adjustment), resulting in thousands of reserved category candidates being excluded from the selection list.
  • Long legal battle: This case was first pending before a Single Bench, then the Double Bench of the Allahabad High Court, and is now pending before the highest court of the country, the Supreme Court.
  • Impact on recruitment: Due to this dispute, not only were the appointments of selected candidates affected, but no new major primary teacher recruitment (Super TET) has been conducted in the Basic Education Department for the past several years.

45,000 Rural Teacher Recruitment: When Will the Process Begin?

According to officials of the Basic Education Department, a requisition for more than 45,000 vacant posts has been prepared to address the acute shortage of teachers in rural council primary schools. However, this recruitment will get the green light only after the Supreme Court delivers its final verdict on the 69,000 recruitment case.

Surendra Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board, clarified:

"The complete details of the rural teacher recruitment and the requisition for vacant posts have been received by the department. However, there could be a situation where some changes in the reservation and number of posts might occur after the court's decision. In view of this uncertainty, the requisition has not yet been sent to the Selection Commission (UPESSC). As soon as the court's decision is announced, the situation will become clear, and the requisition will be immediately sent to the commission to start the recruitment process."

Therefore, as soon as the Supreme Court's order is released, the Basic Education Department will send the proposal for recruitment to these 45,000 posts to the Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission through the online portal without any delay.

11,508 Urban Teacher Recruitment: A Big Opportunity After 30 Years

While recruitment in rural areas is subject to the court's decision, on the other hand, the department has shown urgency in addressing the shortage of teachers in urban council schools. The Basic Education Board has initiated the process for teacher recruitment on 11,508 posts for urban areas.

This recruitment is historic because:

  1. End of a 30-year wait: No direct teacher recruitment had been conducted in the municipal areas (urban schools) of Uttar Pradesh since 1992. For the last three decades, teacher posts in these schools remained vacant, or work was managed by transferring teachers from rural areas.
  2. Requisition sent to UPESSC: The requisition for this recruitment has been uploaded to the online portal of the Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission. The official notification will be released by the commission soon, inviting applications.

UP Urban vs. Rural Teacher Recruitment: A Comparative Analysis

UP LT Grade Main Exam Result: Four Posts Advertised, Selection of Only Two

Another important piece of news related to teacher recruitment is coming from the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). The commission has recently declared the result of the UP LT Grade main examination. A peculiar situation was observed in this result.

  • What is the matter? A total of four posts were advertised for ex-servicemen in the LT Grade teacher recruitment advertisement.
  • Status of the result: When the final selection result was declared, candidates could be selected for only two posts. The remaining two posts have remained vacant due to the non-availability of eligible candidates or technical reasons. This situation highlights how essential it has become to clear the minimum qualifying marks in competitive examinations.

Way Forward and Preparation Strategy for Candidates

If you are preparing to become a primary or upper primary teacher in Uttar Pradesh, this is not the time to feel discouraged but to strengthen your preparation. The recruitment for 11,508 urban posts and the upcoming recruitment for 45,000 rural posts could prove to be a golden opportunity for you.

Below are some important tips for preparation:

  • Strengthen your grip on the Syllabus: In the exams to be conducted by the new commission (UPESSC), the written exam will carry the highest weightage. Therefore, start strengthening your command over Child Development and Pedagogy (CDP), Languages (Hindi, English/Sanskrit), Mathematics, Science, and General Knowledge (GK/Current Affairs) right away.
  • Take regular mock tests: Time management is the key to success in exams. Solve online and offline mock tests regularly.
  • Use updated study material: Study only from standard and authentic books in accordance with the changing pattern of the exam. For better exam strategies and excellent study guides, you can regularly read the blog section of Patamde Study (patamde.in), where you will find study material prepared by experts.

Conclusion

In the coming times, bumper teacher recruitments are expected under the Basic Education Department in Uttar Pradesh. While on one hand, the advertisement for 11,508 urban teacher recruitments is expected to be released soon, on the other hand, the path for recruitment to more than 45,000 rural teacher posts will also be cleared as soon as the Supreme Court's verdict on the 69,000 teacher recruitment case is delivered.

In such a scenario, candidates should continue their studies while waiting for the completion of legal processes. Keep visiting Patamde Study for every minor and major official update and precise guidance related to the teacher recruitment exam.
