Second Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas: Review of Diaspora Participation and Preparations in Rajasthan's Development
The brave and prosperous land of Rajasthan is known not only for its unique culture and historical heritage but is also famous for the hard work and success of its diaspora (Non-Resident Rajasthanis - NRR) spread across the globe. To further strengthen the connection of these diaspora members with their motherland, the Government of Rajasthan is going to organize the Second Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas in Jaipur on the upcoming December 10, 2026. The state's Department of Industries and Commerce has intensified preparations to make this grand event a success. Recently, Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas held a high-level review meeting with senior officers of various departments at the Government Secretariat, issuing strict instructions to complete the preparations well ahead of time.
This event is set to prove to be a milestone in transforming the economic and social landscape of Rajasthan. This topic is also extremely important for students preparing for competitive exams, as several questions related to it can be asked in Rajasthan Current Affairs. In this article, we will discuss in detail the preparations for the Second Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas, its history, key highlights, and its significance in the state's development.
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, made a historic announcement during the 'Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit' (Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit-2024) held in the year 2024. He announced that December 10 of every year would be celebrated as 'Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas'. The main objective of this initiative is to provide a common platform to Non-Resident Rajasthanis living across the world and reconnect them with their soil and roots.
In line with this announcement:
This day is not just a celebration, but a concrete medium to integrate the professional and social efforts of the diaspora with the development of the state.
In the review meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, several important guidelines were issued for the successful and seamless execution of the program. The Chief Secretary made it clear that all concerned departments must work with mutual coordination (inter-departmental coordination) so that guests arriving from within the country and abroad can get a true experience of Rajasthan's traditional 'Atithi Devo Bhava' culture.
The key points of the meeting are as follows:
This year's event is expected to be more comprehensive and impactful compared to the previous year. Various activities and sessions will be organized during the main ceremony, which are as follows:
During the ceremony, a ground-breaking ceremony will be organized to implement the investment agreements (MoUs) previously signed in the state. This will give a new momentum to industrial development in the state and create thousands of new employment opportunities.
Distinguished diaspora members who have performed outstandingly in various fields across the country and the world (such as industry, social service, science, art, and education) and brought laurels to Rajasthan will be honored with this prestigious award.
Special discussion sessions will be organized on various important sectors such as Renewable Energy (Renewable Energy), Tourism (Tourism), Education (Education), Healthcare (Healthcare), Water Resources (Water Resources), and Mining (Mining). In these sessions, industry experts and Non-Resident Rajasthanis will share their experiences and suggestions.
A special cultural evening will be organized to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.
