Amidst the buzz of the general elections for the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions in Rajasthan, the State Election Commission has taken a highly significant decision. Respecting public sentiments and the religious faith of the state's residents, State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh has announced the Rajasthan Panchayat Election Revised Schedule 2026. This change has been made primarily due to the Dhanteras festival, ensuring that voters, candidates, and government employees on election duty do not face any inconvenience during the festive season.
Under this new order, the dates for the first, second, and third phases of the panchayat elections have been shifted back (i.e., earlier) by one day. If you are participating as an aware voter in the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Elections 2026 or preparing for competitive exams like the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS), Rajasthan Police, or Patwari, knowing this revised schedule is highly essential for you.
According to the schedule previously announced by the State Election Commission, voting for the posts of Panch and Sarpanch under the third phase was scheduled for November 6, 2026. Coincidentally, the auspicious festival of Dhanteras falls on the very same day.
Considering all these practical aspects and the feedback received from the public, State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh took a prompt decision to make a partial one-day amendment to the election schedules of the first, second, and third phases.
According to the revised schedule, the departure of polling parties for the first phase will now take place on October 21, 2026, instead of October 22. The complete timetable for the first phase is as follows:
In the second phase as well, the departure date of polling parties has been changed from October 28 to October 27, 2026. The details of this phase are given below:
The biggest change has been observed in the third phase, as the voting for this phase was directly clashing with Dhanteras. Now, the polling parties for this phase will depart on November 2, 2026, instead of November 3. The new schedule is as follows:
Important Note: According to the State Election Commission, this partial change has been made only in the schedules of the first, second, and third phases. Apart from this, the remaining election schedules previously announced (fourth phase and elections for Zila Pramukh/Pradhan, etc.) will remain completely unchanged.
For the convenience of voters and candidates, the revised schedule of all three phases is clearly presented in the table below:
| Election Process / Phase | Phase 1 | Phase 2 | Phase 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Departure/Arrival of Polling Parties | October 21, 2026 | October 27, 2026 | November 02, 2026 |
| Zila Parishad/Samiti Member Voting | October 22, 2026 | October 28, 2026 | November 03, 2026 |
| Panch/Sarpanch Nomination | October 23, 2026 | October 29, 2026 | November 04, 2026 |
| Panch/Sarpanch Voting | October 24, 2026 | October 30, 2026 | November 05, 2026 |
| Election of Up-Sarpanch | October 25, 2026 | October 31, 2026 | November 06, 2026 (Forenoon) |
The implementation of this revised schedule will have several direct impacts on the candidates in the electoral fray and the general voters:
Since the election schedule has been shifted one day earlier, candidates will have to modify their public relations and final-round campaigning strategies. They will now get one day less to go door-to-door to solicit votes and organize street-corner meetings.
The Model Code of Conduct is in force across the rural areas of Rajasthan. It will be mandatory to strictly follow all the rules of the code of conduct according to the revised dates as well. The new schedule will be considered the base for any kind of election rally, use of loudspeakers, or social media campaigning.
A unique feature of the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Elections this time is that voters will have to visit the polling booth on two different days. On the first day, they will vote for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members, and two days later, they will cast their votes to elect the Panch and Sarpanch of their village.
Immediately after the voting for the posts of Sarpanch and Panch, the counting of votes will be conducted at the respective polling stations on the same evening, and the results will be declared. This arrangement has been made to ensure quick and transparent elections.
For candidates preparing for competitive exams like RAS, REET, and other state-level examinations, the following facts related to the administrative system and Panchayati Raj of Rajasthan are extremely important:
This change in election dates made by the Rajasthan State Election Commission in view of Dhanteras is an excellent example of administrative wisdom and public sensitivity. This will not only keep the festive joy intact but also increase the participation of the common people in this great festival of democracy.
