Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana 2026-27: Apply Online by November 30

Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana 2026-27: Apply Online by November 30

When students from rural areas or small towns move to big cities to pursue higher education, the biggest challenge they face, along with the cost of studies, is arranging for accommodation and food. In such a situation, to alleviate this financial concern of students, online applications have been invited under the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana 2026-27 by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Rajasthan. Through this welfare scheme, financial assistance of ₹2,000 per month is provided to students pursuing college education away from home. The application process for the academic session 2026-27 has started, and eligible students can apply online for it by November 30, 2026.

What is the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana 2026-27?

Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana is a highly ambitious scheme of the Government of Rajasthan, whose main objective is to provide financial support to needy students studying away from home. Often, due to financial constraints, promising students secure admission to government colleges in big cities but cannot afford the cost of living and food there. Keeping this problem in mind, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is running this scheme.

Under this scheme, regular students pursuing undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses in Government Colleges located at district headquarters are covered. Students who are studying away from their native place or home, living in rented rooms or as Paying Guests (PG), are sent financial assistance directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under this scheme. According to the guidelines issued by Manoj Kumar Gehlot, Joint Director of the department, for the academic session 2026-27, eligible students can now apply on time to avail the benefits of this scheme.

Main Objective and Background of Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana

Behind the launch of the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana by the Government of Rajasthan lies a very sensitive and progressive vision. Many talented students living in rural areas or small towns secure admission to good colleges in big cities for higher education after passing class 12th, but the heavy cost of living in cities goes beyond their families' budget.

The room rent, electricity and water bills, and the monthly cost of groceries and food combine to put significant financial pressure on a student. Due to this financial burden, students are sometimes forced to drop out of their studies midway. The main objective of this initiative by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is to reduce this drop-out rate. The government wants to ensure that no meritorious student is deprived of higher education solely due to a lack of funds. This scheme specifically helps in providing a safe and supportive environment to students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Most Backward Classes (MBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Minority categories.

Key Benefits and Financial Assistance Under the Scheme

Under the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana 2026-27, selected beneficiaries are provided direct financial assistance by the government to meet their housing and basic daily living needs. The financial structure and benefits of this scheme are as follows:

  • Monthly Financial Assistance: Selected students under the scheme will be provided financial assistance at the rate of ₹2,000 per month.
  • Maximum Duration: This assistance is provided for a maximum of 10 months in an academic year.
  • Total Annual Assistance: Thus, an eligible student can receive a maximum total assistance amount of ₹20,000 during the entire academic session.
  • Coverage of Expenses: Students can use this amount to cover their rented accommodation (room rent), food, electricity and water bills, and other necessary academic expenses.

This assistance amount is transferred directly to the student's bank account, keeping the process completely transparent and free from middlemen.

Eligibility Criteria: Which Students Can Benefit From This Scheme?

To avail the benefits of this scheme, certain specific eligibility criteria have been set by the Government of Rajasthan. According to the official notification published in the newspaper, only students meeting the following criteria will be eligible to apply:

1. Educational Qualification and Stream

  • The applicant student must be enrolled as a regular student in a Government College located at any district headquarters in Rajasthan during the academic session 2026-27.
  • The student must be a regular student of Arts, Science, or Commerce stream at the undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) level. Private or non-collegiate students are not eligible for this scheme.

2. Benefits for Students of Six Reserved Categories

The benefits of the scheme are specifically provided to students from socially and economically backward classes. Under this, students from the following six categories can apply:

  1. Scheduled Castes (SC)
  2. Scheduled Tribes (ST)
  3. Most Backward Classes (MBC)
  4. Other Backward Classes (OBC)
  5. Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
  6. Minority Category

3. Housing-Related Conditions

  • The student's native home must be far from the city or district headquarters where their college is located.
  • The student must not be living with their parents or guardians in the college city, but rather living there in a rented room or as a Paying Guest (PG). Students residing in government hostels are not eligible for this scheme.

District-wise Merit and Selection Process

Under the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana, all applicants do not automatically receive the benefits; instead, a systematic selection process is followed.

  • Allocation of Seats: Seats are allocated for each district and category by the department. Eligible students are selected based on the total allocated seats across the state (e.g., approximately 5,000 or more seats).
  • Merit-Based Selection: From the applications received, students are selected based on the merit of marks obtained in their previous class (e.g., Class 12th for undergraduate and graduation level for postgraduate).
  • Transparent Process: Applications are scrutinized at the district level by officials of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. Once the merit list is prepared, the assistance amount is sent directly through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to the bank accounts linked with the Jan Aadhaar of the selected students.

List of Required Documents

While applying online for the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana, students must upload some important documents on the portal. In the absence of documents, the application may be rejected. Therefore, keep the following documents ready before applying:

  • Domicile Certificate: To certify that the student is a native resident of Rajasthan.
  • Certificate of Regular Study: A certificate issued by the college proving regular enrollment in a Government College at the district headquarters for the academic session 2026-27.
  • Rent Certificate or Receipt: A self-attested rent certificate of the rented accommodation or a rent receipt provided by the landlord.
  • Previous Year's Marksheet: The marksheet of the last passed class to verify educational qualification and eligibility.
  • Jan Aadhaar Card: Having a Jan Aadhaar Card is mandatory for the application process, as the student's details are verified through it.
  • Caste Certificate: A valid caste certificate to avail of the benefits of the respective category (SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS/Minority).
