SSC Exam Schedule 2026 Released: Check Dates for JE, SI, and CHSL Exams

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released an important notice on its official website, announcing the schedule for the upcoming major examinations of the year 2026. If you are preparing for a government job, then the SSC Exam Schedule 2026 is the most crucial update for you. According to the official notice (F. No. HQ-EC033/7/2025-EC) released by the Commission on October 1, 2026, three of the country's largest examinations will be conducted in the months of November and December 2026.

This exam schedule includes prestigious examinations such as Junior Engineer (JE), Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police & CAPFs, and Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (CHSL). In this article, we will discuss the dates, exam patterns, and the best preparation strategies for these exams in detail so that you can finalize your preparation in time.

According to the official notification released by the Commission, all examinations will be conducted in Computer Based Examination (CBE) mode. In the table below, you can view the details of the exam names, their tiers/papers, and the proposed dates:

Detailed Overview and Pattern of Major Examinations

Following the release of the SSC Exam Schedule 2026, candidates now have very limited time left for preparation. Let's understand the format and key aspects of the three examinations so that you can organize your study plan accordingly.

1. SSC Junior Engineer (JE) Examination, 2026

The SSC JE exam is a highly popular exam for technical students (Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering) in the country. The Commission will conduct Paper-I (CBE) from November 02 to November 06, 2026.

  • Exam Pattern: Paper-I is an objective-type computer-based examination. It consists of a total of 200 questions, and candidates are given 2 hours to solve them.
  • Mark Distribution:
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 questions (50 marks)
    • General Awareness: 50 questions (50 marks)
    • General Engineering (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical): 100 questions (100 marks)
  • Strategy: Since the weightage of the technical subject is 50%, build a strong command over your core engineering subjects. Along with this, practice daily to score full marks in Reasoning.

2. SSC Sub-Inspector (SI) in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination, 2026

This exam is extremely important for youth dreaming of becoming a Sub-Inspector in the Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). It will be conducted between November 20 and November 28, 2026.

  • Exam Pattern: This Computer Based Examination (CBE) consists of a total of 200 multiple-choice questions, with 2 hours allotted to solve them.
  • Mark Distribution:
    • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 50 questions (50 marks)
    • General Knowledge and General Awareness: 50 questions (50 marks)
    • Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions (50 marks)
    • English Comprehension: 50 questions (50 marks)
  • Physical Efficiency: Remember that after passing the written exam, you will also have to undergo the Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). Therefore, along with your studies, continue practicing for your physical fitness and running.

3. SSC Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026

SSC CHSL is one of the largest examinations in the country, with lakhs of candidates appearing every year. This time, the CHSL Tier-I (CBE) exam will be conducted over a long period of nearly a month, from November 30 to December 31, 2026.

  • Exam Pattern: CHSL Tier-I consists of 100 questions, with each question carrying 2 marks (total 200 marks). Candidates get only 60 minutes (1 hour) to complete this exam.
  • Mark Distribution:
    • English Language (Basic Knowledge): 25 questions (50 marks)
    • General Intelligence: 25 questions (50 marks)
    • Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill): 25 questions (50 marks)
    • General Awareness: 25 questions (50 marks)
  • Challenge: The biggest challenge in this exam is time management. Continuous practice is required to solve 100 questions with accuracy in 60 minutes.

Last-Minute Preparation Strategies

When only a few weeks are left for the exam, only a correct and practical strategy can lead you to success. Adopt the following strategies to sharpen your preparation according to the SSC Exam Schedule 2026:

  • Identify Weak Areas: Instead of starting a new syllabus now, focus on the topics where you are weak. Solve Previous Years' Question Papers (PYQs) and analyze where you are making mistakes.
  • Prioritize Mock Tests: Make sure to take at least 3 to 4 full-length mock tests a week. This will not only boost your confidence but also teach you how to manage time in a real exam environment.
  • Special Focus on Current Affairs: In SSC exams, current affairs play a very crucial role in the General Awareness section. Thoroughly revise national and international events, sports, awards, and government schemes from the last 8 to 10 months.
  • Maintain Accuracy: Most SSC exams have a provision for negative marking. Therefore, attempt only those questions during the exam for which you are completely confident about the answers. Avoid guesswork.

Important Tips for Computer Based Examination (CBE)

The format of an online exam (CBE) is quite different from an offline exam. Keep these points in mind to avoid any kind of panic in the exam hall:

  1. Screen Time and Practice: Develop a habit of reading questions on a computer screen and solving them quickly. Often, candidates spend too much time reading data on the screen.
  2. The Art of Skipping: If a question (especially in Mathematics or Reasoning) is taking too much time, instead of getting stuck on it, skip it and move forward. You can use the 'Mark for Review' option to return to it if time permits.
  3. Read Instructions Carefully: Before starting the exam, carefully read all the instructions given on the computer screen, especially the conditions regarding negative marking.

Conclusion

The SSC Exam Schedule 2026 released by the Staff Selection Commission is like an alarm call for all serious candidates who wish to join the government service. The months of November and December are going to be packed with exams, so double your study pace without wasting any time. Create a systematic timetable, revise regularly, and also take care of your health.
