Rajasthan CET Exam 2026-27: New Guidelines, Normalization Formula, and Exam Dates Released

Very big and important news has emerged for the youth preparing for government jobs in Rajasthan. New and important guidelines have been issued regarding the Rajasthan CET Exam (Rajasthan Common Eligibility Test) to be conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSMSSB). This time, more than 40 lakh candidates have applied for this exam, making the level of competition extremely tough. Board Chairman Alok Raj has clarified that the Normalization formula will be implemented this time as well to maintain transparency and fairness in the exam.

If you too dream of joining the government service in Rajasthan, it is extremely important for you to understand the new rules, exam dates, and selection process of this exam in detail. In this article, we will provide you with every minor and major detail related to the Rajasthan CET Exam 2026-27.

Rajasthan CET Exam 2026-27: Key Details

The Common Eligibility Test (CET) conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board is held at two levels - Senior Secondary (12th) level and Graduate level [image.png]. This year, record-breaking applications have been received for both exams. The board has made detailed preparations to conduct the exam in a completely fair manner [image.png].

The table below summarizes all the important statistics and dates related to the exam:

Exam LevelProposed Exam DatesTotal ShiftsTotal Applications ReceivedTotal Services Included
Senior Secondary Level1 to 3 December 2026 [image.png]6 shifts (over 3 days) [image.png]23.56 lakh (approx. 12,000 withdrew applications) [image.png]14 government services [image.png]
Graduate LevelJanuary 2027 [image.png]To be announcedApprox. 17.15 lakh [image.png]12 government services [image.png]

Important Fact: Combining both levels of the Rajasthan CET exam, the total number of applications exceeds 40 lakhs [image.png]. In the Senior Secondary level exam, 23.56 lakh candidates had filled out the form, out of which about 12,000 candidates have withdrawn their applications [image.png]. Meanwhile, around 17.15 lakh candidates have applied for the Graduate level [image.png].

Merit List to be Prepared Using Normalization Formula

Whenever a competitive exam is conducted over multiple days and in different shifts, the biggest challenge is to maintain a uniform difficulty level across the question papers of all shifts. The paper might be easy in one shift and difficult in another. To eliminate this disparity, the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board will adopt the Normalization formula [image.png].

Why is Normalization Necessary?

  • Equal Opportunity: This process ensures that candidates in shifts with difficult papers do not suffer any disadvantage, and candidates in shifts with easy papers do not get any unfair advantage [image.png].
  • Scientific Method: Normalization is a statistical and scientific formula through which the scores of all shifts are brought to a comparative level [image.png].
  • Transparent Merit: According to Board Chairman Alok Raj, the final merit list will be released only after the normalization process is completed [image.png].

26 Government Jobs Available Through CET

Passing the Rajasthan CET Exam is the first and most important stepping stone to securing a government job in Rajasthan. Through this eligibility test, pathways to recruitment in a total of 26 different government services will open [image.png]. It is divided into two categories:

1. 14 Services of Senior Secondary Level

If you pass the 12th-pass level CET exam, you will be eligible for the main examination of the following 14 departments and posts [image.png]:

  • Forest Guard [image.png]
  • Police Constable [image.png]
  • Jamadar Grade-II [image.png]
  • Hostel Superintendent [image.png]
  • Clerk Grade-II [image.png]
  • Junior Assistant [image.png]
  • And other subordinate services...

2. 12 Services of Graduate Level

After passing the Graduate-level CET exam, candidates will be able to apply to 12 prestigious departments of the Rajasthan Government [image.png]:

  • Patwari [image.png]
  • VDO (Village Development Officer) [image.png]
  • Junior Accountant [image.png]
  • Tehsil Revenue Accountant [image.png]
  • Platoon Commander [image.png]
  • Deputy Jailor [image.png]
  • Supervisor [image.png]

Exam Pattern, Negative Marking, and Minimum Qualifying Marks

To achieve success in the Rajasthan CET exam, candidates must closely understand its new exam pattern and rules. The board has implemented strict rules to make the exam more challenging and favorable for serious candidates [image.png].

One-Third Negative Marking for Incorrect Answers

To curb the tendency of guessing in this exam, a provision of one-third (1/3) negative marking has been introduced [image.png]. This means that if you answer three questions incorrectly, marks equivalent to one correct answer will be deducted [image.png]. Therefore, candidates should only answer those questions they are completely confident about.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The board has also set a minimum qualifying limit to pass the exam [image.png]:

  • General Category: It is mandatory to obtain a minimum of 40% marks [image.png].
  • Reserved Categories: It is mandatory to obtain a minimum of 35% marks [image.png].

Validity of CET Score: Once you pass the CET exam, your scorecard will remain valid for the next three years (3 Years) [image.png]. This means you can directly participate in the main examinations of the respective recruitments released over the next three years [image.png].

How to Prepare for the Rajasthan CET Exam?

To secure your place among lakhs of candidates, your preparation strategy must be extremely robust. Here are some important tips that can give a new direction to your preparation:

  1. In-depth Analysis of the Syllabus: The syllabus for both Senior Secondary and Graduate levels is quite extensive. Pay equal attention to subjects like Rajasthan's history, art and culture, geography, and polity, along with mathematics, science, Hindi, English, and computers.
  2. Avoid Negative Marking: Since there is 1/3 negative marking in the exam, pay special attention to improving your accuracy while taking mock tests [image.png].
  3. Time Management: Practice regularly by setting a timer to solve as many correct questions as possible within the limited time in the exam hall.
  4. Regular Revision: Along with studying new topics, weekly revision of previously studied topics is absolutely essential.

To make your preparation even stronger and more systematic, you can take advantage of Patamde mock tests and study material, where you will find mock tests and excellent study material based on the latest exam pattern.

The figure of over 40 lakh applicants indicates that the level of competition is going to be very high this time [image.png]. The implementation of the normalization formula and the 1/3 negative marking system make the exam more transparent and equitable [image.png].

Very little time is left now for this exam, which is scheduled to be held in December 2026 and January 2027 [image.png]. In such a scenario, candidates should start finalizing their preparation without wasting any time. Hard work done in the right direction will surely lead you to success.
