The administration has once again taken a strict stance at Jaipur's largest educational hub, the Gopalpura Bypass. In this recent action of Jaipur Gopalpura Bypass coaching seal, the enforcement squad of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) carried out a major operation, completely sealing five illegal coaching institutes operating near Riddhi-Siddhi. This action has been taken against the disregard of safety standards, illegal construction, and violation of JDA regulations.
This sudden action has not only caused panic among coaching operators but has also created a study crisis for thousands of competitive exam students studying there. Let us understand in detail in this article what this entire action is, which institutes have been sealed, and what impact it will have on students.
The enforcement squad of the JDA (Jaipur Development Authority) carried out a major sealing operation on Sunday near Riddhi-Siddhi on Jaipur's Gopalpura Bypass. According to JDA officials, coaching institutes were being operated in this multi-story building without any valid approval and by putting safety standards at stake.
JDA Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Anand Sharma, while giving information about the matter, said that this action was taken completely in accordance with the rules and after the disregard of previously issued notices. The enforcement squad reached the spot and completely locked and sealed the main entrances of all five coaching institutes running from the basement to the third floor of the building.
According to DIG Anand Sharma, the JDA administration does not close any institute without prior notice. Before this sealing action, legal notices were issued to the concerned building developers and coaching operators under Section 32 of the JDA Act.
Through this notice, they were clearly bound to immediately remove the illegal construction and activities running contrary to the rules in the building. However, despite repeated warnings and the expiration of the notice period, no corrective steps were taken by the operators. Ultimately, JDA had to take this strict step to ensure compliance with the law.
In this multi-story building, reputed institutes preparing students for various competitive exams in Rajasthan (such as IAS, RAS, Sanskrit Education, and other government jobs) were running on different floors. The institutes sealed by JDA and their floor-wise details can be understood from the table below:
| S. No. | Name of Coaching Institute | Floor of the Building | Major Violation and Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shree Raj IAS-RAS | Basement | Operating classes illegally in the basement and lack of safety standards. |
| 2 | Sanskrit Samriddhi | First Floor | Illegal operation without commercial approval from JDA. |
| 3 | Impact | First Floor | Activities contrary to building bylaws and approved maps. |
| 4 | Gitanjali | Second Floor | Disregard of Section 32 notice and illegal commercial use. |
| 5 | Motion Coaching Institute | Third Floor | Multi-story operation without Fire NOC and safety standards. |
In recent times, accidents in coaching centers running in basements in different parts of the country have drawn the entire nation's attention to this serious problem. This is why the Rajasthan Government and JDA do not want to make any compromises regarding safety standards. The following are the main hazards of running coaching centers in basements and unapproved buildings:
Key Takeaway: The lives of students are far more precious than any commercial profit. Although this action by JDA may seem harsh, it is an extremely necessary step to prevent any major accident in the future.
There has been a long-standing controversy regarding the regulation of coaching institutes in Jaipur. In fact, the Jaipur Housing Board has constructed a state-of-the-art and fully equipped Coaching Hub in Pratap Nagar at a cost of approximately ₹350 crore. The government's plan was to shift all coaching institutes from congested areas like Gopalpura Bypass and Lal Kothi to that location.
Local residents and development committees (such as the 10-B Scheme Development Committee) had filed petitions in the Supreme Court complaining that running coaching centers in these residential and narrow commercial areas leads to heavy traffic jams, parking issues, and safety hazards. Following the Supreme Court's strict stance and directives to take corrective measures, JDA intensified this survey and sealing campaign.
The most direct and significant impact of this sealing action is felt by poor and middle-class students who come to Jaipur from far-off villages and towns to fulfill their dreams.
If you are also planning to take admission in a new coaching institute in Jaipur to prepare for competitive exams, make sure to follow this checklist suggested by the experts at Patamde Study:
This action by JDA on Jaipur's Gopalpura Bypass is a clear message that ignoring rules and playing with students' safety will no longer be tolerated. However, the administration must also ensure that the academic future of innocent students preparing for exams is not ruined amidst these actions. Coaching operators should also show responsibility and rectify their arrangements under the rules as soon as possible or shift to the government-designated coaching hub.
