Rajasthan 5th & 8th Board Exam 2027: Application Deadline Extended to October 31

Extremely important news has emerged from the Education Department for Class 5th and 8th students studying in government and private schools of Rajasthan. The Department of Elementary Education, Rajasthan (Bikaner) has extended the last date for filling out the 5th and 8th board exam application forms for the 2026-27 academic session.

According to the official order issued by the department, school administrators and heads of institutions can now fill out the online exam applications of their students until October 31, 2026. Previously, the last date for application was set as October 21, 2026. This extension of the deadline has brought great relief to thousands of schools and students who were unable to fill out their application forms due to technical issues or delays in document verification.

In this article, we will provide you with detailed information regarding all the important aspects of the Rajasthan 5th and 8th Board Exam 2027 application, including revised dates, the online form-filling process, and the required documents.

Rajasthan 5th & 8th Board Exam 2027: Important Dates

The Department of Elementary Education (Registrar, Departmental Examinations, Bikaner) has released the revised schedule for the exam applications. All schools (government, private, Sanskrit, and Madrasa) must submit the online applications of all their regular students within this new deadline.

You can view the important dates related to the exam application in the table below:

Important Note: The department has clarified that there will be no further extension of the application deadline after October 31, 2026. Therefore, all school heads must complete this process well in time.

Key Reasons for Extending the Application Form Deadline

Like every year, there have been several practical and technical reasons behind extending the deadline for exam applications this time as well. The department has taken this decision keeping in mind the interests of schools and students:

  1. Time-consuming Document Verification: While filling out the online forms for Class 5th and 8th, it is mandatory to match the students' names, parents' names, date of birth, and Aadhaar/Jan Aadhaar cards. Due to errors in the documents of many students, correcting them was taking time.
  2. Technical Issues on the Portals: During the application process, there were complaints of server downtime due to heavy traffic on Shala Darpan and the PSP Portal, making it difficult for teachers to upload photos and signatures.
  3. Holidays and Sports Competitions in October: Along with holidays for major festivals like Durgashtami, Vijayadashami, and Deepawali in October, district and state-level sports competitions were also being organized in schools. Due to this busy schedule, many schools could not complete the application process on time.
  4. Demand from Private School Associations: Various non-government school associations in Rajasthan had also requested the department to extend the date so that no student is deprived of applying for the board exams.

How to Apply Online on Shala Darpan and PSP Portal?

Class 5th and 8th board exam applications are not filled out individually by students. This entire process is completed online by the head of the respective school or the Shala Darpan in-charge. The step-by-step process to apply is given below:

For Government Schools (Shala Darpan Portal)

  • Step 1: First, visit the official website of Shala Darpan (rajshaladarpan.nic.in).
  • Step 2: Click on the "5th & 8th Exam" portal link on the homepage.
  • Step 3: Now, select the "School/Office Login" option and log in by entering your school's login ID, password, and captcha code.
  • Step 4: After logging in, go to the menu and click on "Class 5th/8th Exam Application Form" under the "Exam Activity" section.
  • Step 5: Next, select the relevant session (2026-27), class (5th or 8th), and section, then click on the 'Go' button.
  • Step 6: A list of all students in the class will appear on your screen. Click on the "Apply" button next to each student's name.
  • Step 7: Verify the student's personal details (name, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, third language, etc.) and upload their photo and signature.
  • Step 8: Finally, submit the form, and do not forget to "Final Lock" the forms after completing them for the entire class.

For Non-Government/Private Schools (PSP Portal)

Private schools must fill out their students' application forms through the Private School Portal (PSP Portal). The process is almost identical; they just need to use their PSP login credentials.

Required Documents and Eligibility Criteria for Application

To successfully submit the exam form, schools must have the following documents and information ready:

  • Scholar Register (SR Register): The student's admission number (SR Number) and their details recorded in the school records.
  • Passport Size Photo: The student's latest colored passport-size photograph (in the prescribed size and JPEG format).
  • Signature: A scanned copy of the student's clear signature.
  • Aadhaar Card / Jan Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar card is required for verifying the student's identity and details.
  • Selection of Third Language (Only for Class 8th): It is mandatory for Class 8th students to correctly select their third language (such as Sanskrit, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Sindhi).

Precautions to Take While Filling Out the Online Form

Since this is a board exam, any mistake in the application form can affect the student's future documents (such as marksheets and certificates). Pay special attention to the following points while filling out the form:

  • Spelling Check: The spelling of the student's name, mother's name, and father's name must completely match the school's Scholar Register (SR).
  • Date of Birth (DOB): The date of birth must be filled in correctly in both figures and words.
  • Photo and Signature: Ensure that the photo and signature are perfectly clear and uploaded only in the prescribed KB size, otherwise they may appear blurry on the admit card.
  • Category and Gender: Carefully check the entry of the student's category (General/OBC/SC/ST) and gender (Male/Female).
  • Final Lock: After filling out individual forms for all students, it is mandatory to 'Final Lock' the application list at the school level. The board will not consider applications that are not finalized, and roll numbers will not be issued for such students.

Conclusion and Tips for Exam Preparation

The 5th and 8th board exams are the first major milestone in students' academic lives. With the application deadline extended to October 31, 2026, schools have received ample time to fill out error-free forms without any rush. All heads of institutions are advised to complete this task as soon as possible without waiting for the last date to avoid server downtime issues in the final days.

Once the application process is complete, students should focus their entire attention on preparing for the board exams. If you or your children are appearing for the board exams this year and wish to score excellent marks, start studying in a planned manner right away. For better preparation, previous years' question papers, and syllabus-aligned practice, you can take help from Patamde mock tests and study material, where you will find important study materials and test series related to the exam.

Make good use of your time, revise regularly, and ensure great success in your board exams!
